Referring to themselves as the Hebrew Ladies Hospital Aid Society, this group counted among its many philanthropic accomplishments, the opening of the original Montefiore Hospital... in 1908, the construction of the current site in 1929. In 1990, Montefiore Hospital was sold and became part of the UPMC system and LHAS continues to serve the Pittsburgh community today.
This position is part-time and will have various hours, working weekday and weekend shifts.
Purpose
The Clerk handles the sale of merchandise to the consumer. The Clerk is responsible for the general upkeep of the Shop and performs all duties as required to ensure the daily operations are handled in an efficient and effective manner.
Responsibilities
• Operate cash register and Lottery machine, opens and closes Shop.
• Inform Manager or Clerk II when stock items or supplies are low in need of re-ordering.
• Answer any incoming phone calls and directs calls appropriately.
• Maintain shop (i.e. dusting, cleaning, rubbish removal) to ensure a safe and aesthetic environment.
• Conform to The Basics of Service Excellence as described in the hospital's orientation program.
• Receive incoming merchandise, checks invoices, unpacks and assists with pricing as directed by Manger or Clerk II.
• Assist customers with gift/flower suggestions and refers any customer complaints to Manager of Clerk II.
• Count change bank, Lottery bank and reconciles Lottery receipts at end of day when closing.
• Stock candy, magazines and merchandise on a daily basis as necessary.
• Work weekends, evenings or holidays as needed.
• Maintain quality control of outgoing merchandise.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year's experience in retail sales, or a combination of education and experience is required.
